READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION TO ENSURE PROPER FILE PREPARATION.

1) Computer Platform
  Apple OS X (10.3)
  Apple OS 9 (9.2.2)
  Windows 2000

2) Media
  CD
  DVD
  Zip Disk (100 MB only)

*

Whenever possible, please send the file to LSI on a CD.

3) Page Layout Applications
  QuarkXPress 4.1, 5, and 6.5 (MAC and PC)
  InDesign 2, and CS (MAC and PC)
  Pagemaker 6.5 and 7 (MAC and PC)
  Microsoft Word (only to submit text - LSI will format)

*

We do not accept Multi-Ad Creator or Publisher files.

4) Page Construction
All artwork/graphics must be linked and not imbedded.
Include all necessary fonts used in the document (both printer and screen fonts).
The document size matches the trim size of the piece. Do not float the content in the middle of the larger document.
A 3/8" margin is required within the trim all around the document (for all the content that is not to bleed off the page.
It is recommended that LSI handle trapping.

5) Graphic Applications
  Adobe Photoshop 7 and CS (MAC and PC)
  Adobe Illustrator 8-10 and CS (MAC and PC)
  Adobe Acrobat 4-6 (MAC and PC)
  Include all fonts used in the document - or convert to outline/curves.

Save all imported images/graphics in their originating application. For example, do not send a .jpg file in a Microsoft Word file; just send the .jpg file.

6) Resolution (of your file after it has been scaled to its final size)
  300 dpi (photographic or graduated images)
  600-1200 dpi (line art or flat color images)

*
Note: A 300 dpi image at 100% will become 150 dpi (low resolution) when it is scaled at 200%. For example, a 2" logo at 300 dpi enlarged to 4", will become 150 dpi.

7) Color

All images/graphics must be one of the following: CMYK (Process Color), Greyscale, Bitmap (B&W), or DCS 2.0 (Macintosh Preview; Single file with color composite; Bitmap).
  Colors should be set as either spot or CYMK (Process Color).
  Convert RGB to CYMK using Photoshop.

*
If using a spot color, your image/graphic should be built with the exact Pantone color names you are using in your page layout.
**
If files are to be available in color, B&W, or greyscale, then we need to receive the files in color, B&W, or greyscale.

8) File Formats
  Save images/graphics as one of the following: TIFF (Pixel images), or EPS (Clipping paths, Vector or Line Art Illustrations, or Continuous tone).
  JPG files are only suggested if the image/graphic must be sent via email.
  Save Illustrator files as Illustrator EPS, with "Macintosh (8-Bit Color)" Preview format.
  Do not save TIFF files using LZW compression ("None" recommended).

*   Formats not listed are accepted but not recommended.
**   When possible please send the native layered Photoshop file (.psd) so that production changes can be made if necessary.

9) Fonts
  Include all necessary fonts used in the document and graphics.
  Suggested font format: Type 1 Postscript (MAC and PC).
  Include both screen and printer fonts when submitting Postscript fonts.
  TrueType fonts are not recommended (due to unpredictable results).

*
DO NOT USE ATTRIBUTES (i.e. bold, italic, underline, outline, etc.) - you must use fonts that are loaded in your computer (ex. Helvetica Bold Condensed 10).

10) Proofs
  Include hard copy proofs with digital files via disc. If files are sent via email, please fax a hard copy to 90.739.2020 and note the Purchase Order # and customer name on the fax.
  If color is crucial, you must submit a color proof at 100% scale for reference.
